                                           Spring 2008

Several ordinances are being introduced to the St. Clair City Council.  Among them is the reinstatement of the Right of Way Parking ordinance, the Regulation of Garage Sales, and the prohibition of temporary outdoor storage devices.  These ordinances have an affect on the mission of the Society.  We encourage all interested to support the approval and implementation of these ordinances.  Check back here for further updates.

The police department has assisted the Code Enforcement department in eliminating blight affecting our beautiful city.  A very large number of vehicles have been tagged for removal if compliance is not obtained.  This is the first of several efforts to bring blighted conditions in compliance.

The Society is in full agreement with the newly proposed ban/ordinance against parking in the city right-of-way. A request for a public hearing to bring this important ordinance back to City Council will be set in the near future.

The rights have been obtained for ownership of an important part of architectural artwork from an artist by the Society.  A few of the prints have been obtained.

Our membership drive is still active. The Society welcomes the public to join our organization and help make a difference in St. Clair. Want to join or know of someone who does?  Follow the links.

New information fliers are completed.  Look for our new fliers in the museum, library, Chamber of Commerce and City Hall.

Preparation has begun by the Society to make its presence known during this year's Sesquicentennial activities. Five Society members are on the Sesquicentennial Committee.

Embroidered Society shirts have be completed for sale to  to the public.  The St. Clair Chamber of Commerce is  our store front for future sales.  Contact the Chamber at (810) 329-2972.

Our Society is nearly finished with its plans for its first Historic Home Tour scheduled for this late summer/early fall.  Click on 'Historic Home Tour' on our menu bar on the home page for the tour map and brochure with ticket forms.  Locations for tickets sales will be announced in the near future.
